Hair tips with Imogen
Hair is a very important thing in my life. If my hair look slightly greasy
then I panic and have to wash it immediately. Most of the time my hair is shiny
but I panic thinking it looks greasy.
So here are some of my tips to have nice long, nourished shiny hair.
Lets start with tips for when I am in shower
Tip 1) Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
- A lot of people miss conditioner out you really shouldn’t. You use shampoo to clean your hair and
conditioner to 'condition' it it's in
the name. Conditioner makes your hair soft, shiny and nourished. In my opinion
shampoo makes my hair luggy and slightly wiry when I’m in the shower but when I
put conditioner on it makes it soft and straight. I've never missed out conditioner
but I think that if I did it would make my hair luggy and frizzy.
Tip 2) Use the correct shampoo and conditioner for your hair type.
- If your hair is dry and dull then use a conditioner that targets that
sort of hair. If you think you hair is
shiny, well-nourished then use a
conditioner which says 'for shiny, nourished looking hair' because it will just
give it that extra boost so it doesn't go dry.
Tip 3) Use shampoo/conditioner to its best ability
-When I use shampoo I only use a bit even though my hair is quite long this
is because shampoo foams up unlike conditioner which is more like a cream to a
foam in my opinion. I use more shampoo on my scalp than to my ends this is
because your hair grows from your scalp so when it grows it will be shiny.
Massage the shampoo onto your scalp gently. When I use conditioner I apply more
to my ends because people ends are usually more dry and split.
Tip 4) Conditioner
-When you apply conditioner comb it gently through your hair with a comb to make sure every strand of your
hair has got some conditioner on.
Tip 5) Leave it in
-When you apply shampoo and conditioner leave it in for at least 3-4
minutes so it can actually work. If you apply shampoo or conditioner and instantly
rinse it off with water then it s not actually doing anything to your hair it
will not have enough time to cleanse the hair and nourish it. What I do is I apply my shampoo and then wash
my body and face then wash all off together. When I apply conditioner I
normally go through my hair which takes at least 5 minutes anyway but if I don’t
I just sit down in the bath tub and either sing or normally talk to my self.
Tip 6) Rinse out
-When you are rinsing out your conditioner turn your water temperature down
so it is cold or cooler. Don't turn it from like 6 straight to 2 because you'll
probably get the cold because it will be a shock just turn it gradually down.
This will make your hair shiny I'm not actually sure why it does it but my mum
told my to do it and i've also seen it on people hair tips things.
Tip 7) Hair mask
-Once or twice a week maybe use a hair mask depending on how much you think
your hair is dry and needs it. This is just like a conditioner but way better.
I wouldn't suggest using them every day though because they'll run out really
fast and it will cost you a lot of money. Also if you use a good conditioner
then you shouldn't really need to use one. I actually did a blog post on a DIY
hair mask which you can make yourself if you’re on a budget. It was one of our
spa series.
So they are most of my tips for when you are in the shower now on to random
tips which can help your hair.
Tip 8) Correct brush
-When you get out of the shower comb/brush your hair with either a wide
toothed comb or brush your hair with a wet and dry tangle teezer or an easy
tangle which I use. This is so it doesn't rag out your hair. Because your hair
gets weaker when its wet.
Tip 9) Use an oil
-When your hair is towel dried use an oil or a spray if you struggle with
frizz. Get an oil/spray which stops frizz.
Tip 10) Avoid heat
-Avoid hair curlers, straighteners, wavers, crimpers, hair dryers anything
which harms your hair with heat. If you don't need your hair to look straight
then towel dry your hair just brush it first into its parting so it can dry in
the right place. If you really need to use heat then use a heat spray/oil. If
you straighten your hair without using a heat spray then you are
burning/damaging your hair which leads to dry, frizzy hair .
Tip 11) Hair cut
-Have your hair trimmed every 4-6 weeks to maintain split ends. If you don't have your hair
trimmed regular then you'll have a lot of split ends and when you come to have
your hair cut then you’ll' have to have a lot cut off which if your trying to
grow your hair it' not a good thing. Also if you want your hair to grow then it
will grow a lot faster if you have it trimmed regularly.
Tip 12) Before Bed
-I find when I brush my hair before I go to sleep my hair is
straighter/easier to brush through in
the morning.
They are all of my tips that I can think of I hope you have learnt
something new and try some of these tips out.
